Welcome to the DA group dedicated to prehistoric/extinct animals that are not dinosaurs or pterosaurs. (Not that we have anything against the 'Thunder Lizards' but there are plenty of groups dedicated to them already on DA.)

I'm not very good with keeping up a blog, so don't expect to hear much from me in that regard.

Purpose: A place to find artwork of any kind about prehistoric and extinct animals, outside of dinosaurs or pterosaurs.

Submissions: We accept artwork based on prehistoric and extinct mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, insects, etc. This includes any recently extinct animals. We do not accept dinosaurs or pterosaurs of any kind! I'm sorry, but there are plenty of groups out there for them already.

Addendum: There might be some confusion as to what classifies a bird. For the purpose of this group, a bird has a defined beak or bill (toothed or not), rather than jaws.

I will research the submissions to ensure they follow this rule.

More to be added as needed.

Group Info

This is a group dedicated to art of any sort about the prehistoric fauna that roamed the Earth however long ago. The only exception being Dinosaurs. Why? Because there are groups already out there dedicated to that class of animal.

Outside of that one exception, we welcome any class of prehistoric, or extinct animal: bird, reptile, mammal, fish, insect, etc.

Not meaning to troll or something like that... but something bugged me:

"We do not accept dinosaurs or pterosaurs of any kind!"

And then you got a folder called "Birds".
But Birds are Dinosaurs. I guess you meant non-avian Dinosaurs, right?

Birds and avian-like dinosaurs have the same differences as a domestic cat and a tiger. Enough, that they both can fit into clearly defined parameters (which I do state after that paragraph). While related, one can know the difference between a domestic cat and a tiger at a glance, even though they are both felines.

If this group was about tigers, no one could excuse themselves for mistakenly submitting a domestic cat by saying 'but they're related!', because there is a difference.

And yes, there is a difference between an avian dinosaur and any member of aves.

"Submissions: We accept artwork based on every Mammal.
We do not accept accept Felidae or Canidae of any kind!
Members of Panthera can be submitted."

That's your logic. A bad understanding of Phylogeny is no excuse for leaving out Aves of Dinosauria. But well, that's your group and I only wanted to help. If that's not needed, I've said enough. ;)

I also submitted few deviations 3 times so far and it was expired. This is the same happened in the Group Origin of Mammals. There a submission from another member did entered the group but i submitted before that. For 3 times.I think someone willingly didn't accepted the deviations i submitted there. So i left that group.
